TESTIMONY: Oklahoma Weather
On Thursday, August 3, 2006, a thunderstorm
moved into the South OKC area. It dropped 3” of rain and very high
winds. My family and I live in a steel home that is located on top
of the North Canadian River Bank. Wind is always a factor up here.
With minutes of the storm, electricity was lost. I told my wife,
Renee, we need to see if there is a tornado on the way as the wind
was getting in excess of 60 miles per hour. As soon as we learned
there was no tornado in the area, a downburst of wind hit the area.
It must have been 80+ miles per hour and all the trees were blowing
sideways. You could hear them snapping like is was an ice storm.
By the blessings of God, all of our neighbors were OK and we
survived with no harm to us or our steel home. The local news
helicopters began to hover over our house. I told the kids to come
out and wave. The choppers kept hovering in the area so I thought
that my roof was gone. What are they doing? They were surveying
the debris damage from the severe wind. Electric lines were down;
poles were broken in half. Trees were pushed over; two big barns
across the highway were blown away. It was a huge mess. We were
very fortunate to be able to see one of our own 40’X60’ and 50’X117’
steel home go thru 80 mile per hour winds and not even have a screw
out of place. I want to thank all of our employees for producing
and erecting such a strong building. We have always stood behind
our warranty since the 1960’s, and we will continue to build
structures in Oklahoma with extreme Mother Nature conditions in
mind.
